& Chinese National Peking Opera Company

„Le Cinesi” - an entertaining opera for Baroque Ensemble and Peking Opera. This hitherto unique combination creates an intercultural total work of art, which enthralled both fans of Peking Opera as well as lovers of Western classical music and contemporary experimental theatre. „Le Cinesi” is based on a baroque opera by Christoph Willibald Gluck, first presented in 1754, which was reviewed and edited by the two authors Kui Sheng/Karsten Gundermann. Four acclaimed Italian opera stars and two Peking Opera artists are acting on the stage together, whilst from the orchestra pit we hear the sounds of the baroque orchestra l‘arte del mondo based in Cologne/Leverkusen and the Chinese National Peking Opera Company, jointly directed by Igor Folwill and Kui Sheng. Following successful performances in Germany and Switzerland, the first guest performance of „Le Cinesi” in Beijing will take place on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Sino-German Diplomatic Relations, a cultural event not to be missed!
